⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Elden
Age: 15
OC Type:Table top Pathfinder oc (but basically pure oc in an original setting)
Point Taken: A sense of time when the character is taken. More applicable to MMO and Blank Protagonist OCs.

World Building:
Within The world that the city of Fellengar takes place in, magic exists everywhere. People can obtain this magic through studying books, through magical bloodlines they carry, gifted by a god, a connection with a spirit or literally through hard work of body.

Elden lives in the third age of his world.Long ago, it isn't really clear when, the entire world froze over in a great ice age that lasted over a hundred years. Not many people knew why it happened but many attributed it to some kind of arcane magic or perhaps the war between the dwarves and humans. Whatever the reason it's been lost to history.

Although this ice age was devastating, a key event played into ending it: the discovery of the goddess, Falesta. Specifically, finding a relic that was a physical piece of her was what ended the ice age and helped found the city of Fellengar; where Elden's story takes place.

At one point before the ice age, Fellengar had been a city that had originally worshipped the goddess of Undeath : Lerathal. They worshiped this goddess because during the war with the dwarves, the humans relied on necromancy to overcome the arcane methods the dwarves used. With the fallout of the ice age, and the decline of most civilization, Falesta came into the picture. Her presence is what led Fellengar to abandon its necromatic ways. With Falesta's presence, any history pertaining to Lerathal and her worship was painted over. Instead of keeping the city's dark past, they rewrote their origin to state that they were founded when Falesta and her relic appeared..

Cut to the present where our story is and Fellengar has been in a slow decline and corruption. The King of the city had stopped making appearances to the public so no one knew if he was alive or dead. Houses were suddenly abandoned with no traces of the people who once lived in them. People going missing, crime running rampant and the city guard heavily under staffed. Fellengar was slowly decaying with all these dark and misfortune events starting to surround it.
Backstory:

Elden's birth is something of a tragic thing. He had been born out of wedlock between the King and the king's Lover, Agatha Wormwood. While some might say this was a child born out of love, really though the circumstances were more complicated. The vizier had been planning to usurp the throne and saw Agatha as a way to do this. Agatha had a rare gift of being pyschic to the point of being able to connect with spirits. When Agatha gave birth to her first child, it came to the Vizier's attention that her child also inherited this trait. He then dominated her mentally and made her give up said child and have another with the king as another candidate for his experiments.

This is where Elden was born; a spare to a man's cruel intents and to be given away to a thief to keep an eye on. Elden grew up under the impression that his parents either died or threw him away. The only father like figure in his life was his Mentor who he knew at the time was just a common thief. The man taught him how to thieve. One day when he was ten, his mentor told him he was going out for a job only to never return.

Left alone again, Elden was on his own for five years and survived by himself. It's about the time when Elden is fifteen he began to get wrapped up in the greater events of Fellengar.

There was a festival for Felesta and this would be the day Elden would encounter his soon to be companions. The priest of Felesta, Fabian was delivering a speech to the down trodden citizens when in the middle of the sermon he was kidnapped. Elden along with his now party members; Andrew, Nereva, Theron, and Calixta made chase after the kidnappers. They managed to save Fabian from a group cultists but then left the bigger mystery as to why.

With the city guard already stretched thin as it was, Elden's group decided to look into the matter themselves. For the investigation they were joined by another named Menelos. The more they looked into the disappearances within the city and why Fabian had been kidnapped it led them to uncovering more of what the cultists had planned. They had planned to gain control over the city by bringing the worship of a dark goddess to the front and crush the will of the people and worship of Falesta.

Realizing that someone within the church had helped with the abduction of Fabian there were only three suspects. A young girl named Anala, A young man and a little girl. The group had asked both the little girl and young man they realized neither of them had anything to do with Fabian's kidnapping.

It had turned out Anala was in league with the cultists. Having murdered Fabian she turned her sights on the other two children in the church. The group rushed to their aid and while the fight was long and hard Theron managed to slay the dark priestess. While Fabian had died, the city was at least safe for the time being.

Soon Elden and the group had been approached by the Inquisition of Fellengar and were offered to join and help keep the city safe. Agreeing to it they began their training. At this point this is where Elden soon was gifted his powers.

Falesta came to him in a dream and told him to help rebuild the church to it's former glory. Becoming an agent and Oracle of Falesta he continued to help his friends and the Inquisition.

The group looked further into the goings on of the city to discover the Vizier had been the one pulling the strings behind the scenes. The vizier's plans being that he intended to take control of the city through either one of the heirs he had kept an eye on or infusing the spirit of the deceased King into himself. The group continued to foil his plans to get a hold of the city by forming alliances with other groups or taking out key people for the Vizier's take over.

At one point during their mission that they ran into Elden's old mentor who was in league with the Vizier. Having found out they were using children to transport bombs to blow up parts of the city and took Elden in as a bargaining chip, in a rage, Elden paralyzed him and cut one of his fingers off. This definitely affected Elden in a way of having realized that no one had ever really wanted him from the moment he was born.

Later, they attempted to make an alliance with Elden's mother (who was a council member with the Vizier.)

During the talks they found out she was mentally dominated and sent to assassinate the group. Freeing her from the control they found out the reason she was kept around was due to the fact the king's spirit still lived in her. With the attacks becoming more constant on the city, the group decided to make the announcement of who new king would be, thus taking the rest of the Vizier's power and influence away.

Deciding on Theron's fiancee Evelyn to rule the city, they planned to announce her leadership on their wedding to the entire city. When they did, the undead laid seige to the city.

Personality:
Elden's first memories were that of living on the street. Growing up, he learned to depend on himself more than others having been abandoned so many times before. He came off as confrontational, rude and downright bratty to just about anyone that rubbed him the wrong way. However, since meeting his group of friends it slowly began to change him and show what kind of person he really was.

Despite having it rough and coming off as a brat, Elden had a deep well of compassion for everyone. He had a hard life on the streets and saw what people had to resort to to survive. Seeing how far the city had fallen and what it did to everyone, Elden would strive to do his best to help as many people as possible. When he see's people who hurt or are down trodden his first instinct is to try and lift some of that suffering. He would organize public gardens to feed the poor, offer treatment and medicine to those sick.

Elden believes or at least tries hard to hold onto the belief that ultimately, everyone is capable of good. He's learned from his friend Theron that if you give someone the chance to better themselves it's possible. After all, that's what Theron did for him. When he can, Elden will try and negotiate with his adversaries, offering a chance to settle things peacefully than for it descend into violence. He offers criminals a chance to do the right thing by promising they won't harmed in the process. He tries to find it in him to at least forgive people for bad choices if they felt they were forced into it or didn't know any better. However, he's not gullible or naive. He understands not everyone will take his offered mercies or even deserve them. When someone proves to him they are unwilling to turn away from evil acts he is not hesitant to help stop them.

While Elden seems to be the epitome of a living saint, he is far from it. Elden is quick to anger. When someone offends him or speaks harshly to him he quickly snaps back. He will argue and say rude things even when the time might not be appropriate for it. He has a hard time keeping himself calm in the moment and will say whatever comes to mind not thinking of the consequence of his words. It's also not uncommon for him to be rather spiteful to those who offend him. A noble calling him a street urchin good for nothing is just asking him to sit on top of your nice fancy tables or knock over that nice suit of armour off in the corner. Elden's at least aware of this fault about him and has tried to at least rein in control but he isn't perfect. Sometimes he'll slip up and act on impulse.

Often times, Elden will act on emotion than thinking things through. He's brash and will throw himself into something if there's an immediate danger to someone innocent or a friend. Though his brash decisions aren't always of a self sacrificing nature. If driven to anger or hurt he will sometimes lash out at the person who caused him pain, an example being cutting the finger from his former mentor.

Over all, Elden is a good person who wants to believe in the good of others. He works hard to keep people safe and happy and has confidence in himself despite his rough past. He fights to protect those he loves and those who cannot protect themselves and to depose those who would destroy everything good.

Abilities:
Channelling - Elden is able to draw on the forces of life and light and send out a burst of positive energy within 30 ft of him. He can either heal the living or harm the undead. He can even choose to exclude a certain amount of people from this wave of energy. He can only do this a limited times of day.

Energy Body - Elden can take on pure life energy and sustain it for 40 seconds. Undead will be harmed when they hit him, he can heal minor injuries just by passing through people in this form.

Life Link - Elden can bond his life force with another. If the person he bonds with is injured they are healed while Elden takes on the injuries. The link has it's limits however. Elden and the other person have to stay within 100 ft of one another and the healing done is only minor but consistently happens over every six seconds.

Safe curing - Elden is capable of casting healing spells without being attacked. (In table top terms it means he can't provoke attacks if he heals someone but in rp terms it's more like a shield flys up and defends him from injury).

Spell casting - Elden can cast up to the 3rd circle of magic within his world. Most of his magic revolves around healing or status removing or afflicting spells. The few spells he has that do damage either relies on his enemies being undead or being evil.
